2005 Donation Quilt
Texas: Traditions & Folklore
This
quilt design was adapted from a pattern by Anne Hanson of St.
Joseph, MN. The quilt was made from strip-pieced scraps donated by
members, pieced into blocks, hand appliquéd with the flower
patterns, and utility quilted by hand. Seventy-eight Guild Members
participated and over 800 hours went into making this quilt. Raffle
Tickets are being sold by members and the winner will be announced
at our annual Quilt Show, Quilts: Traditions & Folklore September
16-18, 2005 at Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth. Proceeds
from the quilt benefit women and children in our community.

"TEXAS FLORALS GO SCRAPPY"
Inspiration for the quilt came from
Leisure Arts "Quick and Easy Scrap Quilts". Members of
Trinity Valley Quilters' Guild used fabric scraps to machine piece
3 1/2" blocks for the center. A Committee using scraps from the
center and their combined talents designed and appliquéd flowers
onto the large border. Each corner flower represents a native
floral found in many Texas yards. Hand embroidered insects by
Gladys Goodwin. Machine quilted by Susan Corbett. Sandra

Donation Quilt The Donation Quilt is the Guild's
gift to our community with all proceeds from ticket sales
benefiting women and children through scholarships and community
services. This year's quilt was won at the Cowgirls and
Quilts Show in May.
The Feathered Star pattern was
taken from a Martha McCloskey book and the rose design found in
a quilter's magazine. The border is from Roma Fuller's
variation of some patterns seen in various magazines. The
Quilt blocks and borders were cut out, then given to members of
the Guild to put together. It was machine pieced, hand
appliquéd and hand quilted throughout the year by many members
of our Guild |
