Programs and Workshops: by Heather Pregger
I’m really
sorry I missed Jo Morton’s class and lecture – I hear she was
wonderful! But I’m awfully glad I won’t be missing the programs in
March and April. We have some wonderful workshops to look forward to!
In March, our
speaker will be Darlene Christopherson. Darlene is a well-known hand
quilter, hand appliquer and hand piecer who lives near Waco, TX. She
will be teaching us how to hand piece a sunflower block, guiding us
through curved piecing and set-in seams. The block itself is a
radiating sunflower block – rather like a Mariner’s Compass block.. You
can see her work at
www.darlenechristopherson.com.
In April,
we’ll be going crazy for chenille! Fabric Café will be here to show us
how to make an adorable small quilt with their “Chenille by the inch”
premade chenille. You can see the quilt we’re going to make, called “Swirligig”,
on their website,
http://www.fabriccafe.com. Once on their home page, click “Shop our
Catalog”. From the catalog page, click on “Patterns – Quilts.” The
quilt is on the second pattern page. It’s a wonderful quilt and I can’t
wait to make it!
Of course,
Mona has more information about the workshops, as well as pictures of
the projects we’ll be making, with her at the meeting every month.
