The wheels are turning for the next TVQG Quilt Show.  As you know by now, we have a theme, For the Love of Quilting.  We truly believe that what we do is all about the quilts.  So please be thinking about which quilts you want to enter in the show, how many challenges you want to do and planning your silent auction quilts.

Last Monday we had our first quilt show meeting and everyone came with such great ideas.  Already there are several Challenge quilts completed.  Wow! were they wonderful!  All of us came away with many ideas running through our heads to get busy on our Challenge quilts.  I know that those beads are calling me.

So remember that we will be photographing Show and Tell, and we will have commitment forms for everyone.  We want everyone to share their talent and celebrate with us at the show.  Our goal is to have more quilt entries than ever along with maximum numbers of Challenge quilts and Small Quilt Silent Auction quilts.  We are such a talented group that we know we can meet these challenges.

Contact Peggy or me if you would like to help in any way or have any ideas about the show.

As Peggy said last month, “get those creative juices flowing and fingers stitching doing all the things you LOVE to do” and come help us make this a GREAT and WONDERFUL show.

TVQG Show Challenge - 2008

Your challenge for our quilt show in September is to create small donation quilts for the grass roots "Priority: Alzheimer's Quilts" project, which is dedicated to finding a cure for Alzheimer's disease.  The miniature quilts can be any theme, any construction style, with a 9" x 12" maximum size (so it fits into a USPS Priority Mailer without folding.)  The quilts will hang in the show and will be judged (or not if you wish) and ribbons will be awarded.  After the show, with your permission, we will donate the small quilts to Ami Simms.  Priority Quilts are auctioned monthly or sold outright to raise money for Alzheimer’s research.

This is your chance to get creative and try something new, finish a UFO from a past workshop, use up extra blocks or scraps, embellish with your favorite beads, ribbons, and buttons.  All styles and skill levels are encouraged and we hope every guild member will enter at least one small quilt.  Your quilt is valuable in terms of how much money it can be sold for – do your best work and improve your skills while you’re at it.   Our goal for our show is a minimum of 100 quilts.  We’ll be at the monthly guild meeting to answer your questions and register your small quilts.  Get there early because we have a fabric FQ prize to the first member who turns in their quilt at the meeting.

To find out more about Ami Simms and her work on behalf of Alzheimer’s disease, go to www.amisimms.com  Happy Stitching everyone!  See you in February.
